  • Keystone Oaks School District provides a list of certified school psychologists/agencies that conduct Independent Educational Evaluations. This does not constitute an endorsement of any individual or agency but is offered as a service to parents. Parents may consider using private providers after consulting with these providers about the services available and the fees charged.

As per School Board Policy #113.3, before any evaluations are conducted, please have the evaluator contact the Assistant to the Superintendent for Student Achievement, Dr. Suzanne Hanna, at 412-571-6013.

  • The Keystone Oaks School District utilizes the Allegheny Intermediate Unit #3 for all Assistive Technology referrals.

    • The IEP team meets and identifies the need for Assistive Technology consultation and evaluation.
    • The team identifies the student’s needs and considers possible technology devices or services that may benefit the student.
    • The team utilizes the Assistive Technology consideration checklist from the AIU.
    • At that time, the team will complete a Request for Assistive Technology Consultation packet.
    • The packet is then forwarded to the Supervisor of Special Education for review.
    • The AIU Assistive Technology Coordinator reviews the information and makes site visits if needed.
    • Recommendations are reviewed by the team members, and a decision is made on what course of action to take based on the Assistive Technology Action Plan.
    • The IEP is updated if needed.
    • If assistive devices are needed, training on the devices can be arranged through the AIU assistive technology referrals.
  • The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Federal law concerning the education of students with disabilities, requires the Local Education Agency (LEA) to provide parents of a child with a disability with a full explanation of the procedural safeguards available under the IDEA and the U.S. Department of Education regulations. A PDF of the Procedural Safeguards Notice is available for download
