2026-2027 School Year Calendar
The Keystone Oaks Board of School Directors has approved the 2026-2027 school year calendar.
Please make note of the following dates for the 2026-2027 academic year:
- The first day of school for students is Monday, August 24, 2026.
- The final day of school for students in kindergarten through 11th grade is scheduled for Friday, June 4, 2027.
Additionally, Keystone Oaks’ academic calendar includes three two-hour delays for students. On these days, staff members will participate in professional development. The two-hour delays are scheduled for the following days:

- Monday, March 8, 2027

The elementary schools will operate on the following schedule for the 2025-2026 school year:
- Doors Open - 8:20 a.m.
- Breakfast Served 8:20-8:30 a.m.
- Homeroom – 8:30-8:45 a.m.
- Students marked tardy - 8:40 a.m.
- Instruction begins - 8:45 a.m.
- Instruction ends - 3:15 p.m.
- Student Dismissal - 3:20 p.m.
Before and after school care is available at all three elementary schools through Extended Day Services, a private company. Information about their programs is available on their website.
Keystone Oaks Middle & High School will operate on the following schedule for the 2025-2026 school year:- Doors Open - 7:20 a.m.
- Breakfast Served - 7:20-7:45 a.m.
- Homeroom - 7:45 a.m.
- Students marked tardy - 7:45 a.m.
- First period - 7:54 a.m.
- Student Dismissal - 2:36 p.m.

Throughout the course of the school year, there will likely be times that the Keystone Oaks School District may need to delay or close school due to poor weather conditions or other factors. While we understand that school closures and delays can greatly impact families, the top priority is always the safety of our students and staff.
The decision to open or close school is based on:
- Information on road conditions from transportation staff and from the police;
- Amount of snow and ice accumulated;
- Temperature and wind chill;
- Building conditions (such as whether we have electricity and heat); and
- Consultation with neighboring school districts.
The superintendent is responsible for the final decision, based on the above factors and recommendations from transportation providers and local police departments. Every effort is made to make the decision as soon as possible.
In the event of a school closure or delay, students, staff, and community members will receive an email, text message or app notification, and a phone call via ParentSquare.
The District will post the announcement on the District website, Facebook and Instagram. You can also tune in to KDKA-TV, WTAE-TV, and WPXI-TV.
Keep in mind that even if weather conditions worsen, the decision to delay or cancel school cannot be reversed in the morning without jeopardizing the safety of the students. Once the decision is made to open the schools, many parents rely on the decision and leave for work.
For students that attend Parkway West Career & Technical Center:
- On days when the High School DOES NOT have classes and Parkway West IS IN SESSION, students will be transported as per the bus passes sent home, with the following change: Bus Number 7 or 8 - A.M. Morning Parkway students will be taken to their stops when returning from Parkway classes.
- On days where the District IS ON A TWO-HOUR DELAY but Parkway IS NOT, our students WILL attend Parkway. Anytime that Parkway is on a two-hour delay, our students WILL NOT attend Parkway
If you do not feel as though it is safe for your child to attend school, use your best judgment on whether he or she should attend. Also, please discourage teenagers from driving in bad conditions.
